Forefront Living hosts virtual groundbreaking ceremony at site for new expansion

On Dec. 1 Forefront Living hosted two virtual ceremonies at 8:30 a.m. and at 2 p.m. to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Hawthorne, Presbyterian Village North’s new independent living expansion, with current and future residents.

With the project expected to be complete in 2022, the building will offer a direct connection to the heart of the campus and feature 97 apartment homes with eight open floor plans. As with other independent living residences at PVN preferred access to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing care, and comprehensive rehabilitation services, if ever needed are available. Maintaining the park-like feel at PVN, The Hawthorne will have secure underground parking for residents and with PVN’s convenient location offer access to spectacular amenities, along with all of Dallas, just around the corner.

“The development of The Hawthorne is in response to an increase in demand of senior adults who want to transition to upscale independent living and live at Presbyterian Village North, which is a unique, faith-based campus community,” said Tim Mallad, CEO of Forefront Living. “It’s especially fitting that we break ground during PVN’s 40th anniversary year and that the building is named for one of PVN’s founders and supporters, Doug Hawthorne.” Hawthorne, the former CEO and current advisor to Texas Health Resources, was instrumental in PVN’s development, which opened in June 1980.

Hawthorne, along with Mallad, Phil Wentworth and Bryan Cooper were featured as panelists as part of the virtual event.

“It’s very humbling to have something [named after me] here on this campus which I was blessed to be a part of when we broke the ground originally and opened in 1980, 40 years ago,” said Hawthorne. “So, it’s exciting because it’s a new dimension and a new time for PVN, and [The Hawthorne] will provide some remarkable homes for people who have chosen to make their [lives] here at PVN.”

In addition to sharing an insight into the history of PVN, the Forefront Living team played a time-lapse of the construction from when it initially started in October until now. The ceremony ended with a celebratory toast.
