Introducing Al Montoya, Foundation Board Member

Alvaro (Al) Montoya is a dynamic new member of Forefront Living Foundation’s Board of Trustees. In 2004, Al made history as the pioneering Spanish-speaking player drafted into the National Hockey League (NHL), igniting a trailblazing journey with the New York Rangers. Little did he realize at the time that his NHL draft and subsequent hockey career would serve as a catalyst, opening doors for enhanced opportunities for Hispanics and other minorities within the sport.

Following a distinguished decade-long career in professional hockey, Al now serves as a passionate advocate for inclusivity within the sport. As Vice President of Cultural Growth and Strategy for the Dallas Stars, he spearheads initiatives aimed at fostering a more diverse and inclusive hockey community, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to equity and accessibility in the sport. Al and his wife, Annie, have three children, Camila, Henry and Nicolas.
