Mary Gallegos Receives Stewardship Award

Faith Presbyterian Hospice’s Patient Care Secretary, Mary Gallegos received the Forefront Living Foundation Stewardship Award during the board meeting held on May 20.

The Stewardship Award is given quarterly to one teammate of Forefront Living or its entities, that displays the values of diversity, integrity, compassion and, of course, stewardship. This ideal recipient of this honor is someone who encourages patients, families and their fellow co-workers to thrive on a daily basis.

Gallegos was nominated by John Mezo, executive director of Faith Presbyterian Hospice because of her consistency and dedication to quality work.

“Mary is selected for the Stewardship Award due to her diligent handling of many things with our value of stewardship in mind,” said Mezo, “Mary is a compassionate teammate who exemplifies the Forefront Living values and is very deserving of this quarter’s Stewardship Award.”

Mary supports two Faith teams with an average daily census of 110 patients combined and thoughtfully reviews the locations of each teammate to identify the appropriate individual closest to the patient in need in the case of an emergency. She also works closely with her teammates to confirm the appropriate documentation is submitted to ensure every dollar available for billing and collections is received.

The Stewardship Award began in 2019 as a way to showcase Forefront Living’s appreciation for teammates with exceptional work ethic. The recipient receives an acorn as recognition.

At the Forefront Living Foundation, the acorn was originally only given to donors to signify planting a seed of strength that binds their new relationship with the organization. Now, it is presented to the recipients of the Stewardship Award as well as donors to acknowledge their value and demonstrate how the donors’ gifts are cared for by the teammates.

The next Stewardship Award will be presented during August’s board meeting.
