Teammate Spotlight: Lisa Whisenhunt

Lisa Whisenhunt serves as Database Coordinator for the Forefront Living Foundation (FLF) and will celebrate eight years of service in March of 2024! In her role, she oversees the FLF database, handling tasks such as processing online gifts, generating acknowledgement letters and compiling lists and reports. She also assists at FLF events, stuffs direct mail pieces, crafts centerpieces – whatever is needed, Lisa is ready to help. We sat down with this hard working, behind the scenes teammate to get to know her better through a fun question and answer session. Read more about Lisa below.

What are you passionate about regarding your professional role?
Professionally, I am passionate about setting up my teammates for success by providing them with the information they need. Their success is my success! It feels good to come to work every day knowing that I have played a part in making the “Faith Difference” possible.

What makes you feel proud?
I am proud of my two sons, Ryan (23) and Eric (20), and the fine young men they have become. I am also proud of my education. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas Arlington. (How I ended up as a database coordinator at a foundation is a long story for another day.) Occasionally, I put on my architecture hat by drafting for local contractors and serve on the building committee for my church.

On the weekend, you can find me:
On the weekend, you can find me watching college football, Rangers baseball, working on house projects (recently, we completed a six-month home remodeling project), grilling or hanging out with friends.

What are some of your favorite restaurants?
Most of my favorite restaurants are located in my hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, particularly Big Fred’s Pizza. But locally we can often be found at Buffalo Wild Wings or Blue Goose. In all honesty, I really prefer it when my husband grills!

Tell us about your hobbies:
I have many hobbies including painting and photography, but lately I have spent more time baking cookies or tending to my indoor plants. I have more than 50 plants and love “rescuing” them from the clearance racks at Lowes and Home Depot. I am also an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan and follow all things related to Cornhuskers football and volleyball.

Tell us about your family:
I have been married to my husband, Scott, for 29 years and we are both graduates of Iowa State University. Scott works as the Director of Engineering at Elbit Systems of America, an Aerospace and defense company. He also serves as a volunteer firefighter for the town of Double Oak. Our son, Ryan, recently graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He works as a field engineer for Entact, an environmental remediation company. Our younger son, Eric, is a sophomore at the University of North Texas, where he majors in Computer Science. All of my family lives in Omaha, Nebraska, while Scott’s family lives all over the U.S.

How would your friends describe you?
My friends would describe me as smart, honest, hardworking and loyal. While my humor may be dry, I love to laugh and have a good time. One of my favorite ways to express affection is by showering those I hold dear with my homemade cookies.

Diane Fullingim, FLF Executive Director, shared this positive praise about Lisa: “I feel blessed to have Lisa on the Foundation team. She is everything you want a database manager to be: smart, savvy, an excellent problem solver and a seeker of new and improved processes!”
