Strategically Setting the Path Forward

Earlier this month, the Forefront Living Foundation (FLF) Strategic Planning Session was held at Presbyterian Village North, where members of Forefront Living (FL) leadership, FLF teammates and Trustees filled the private dining room eager to provide ideas and input. These meetings are held routinely across the organization and are designed to help adjust direction and respond to change as each entity continues to evolve. The all-day session was led by Cynthia St. John, Ph.D., a leadership consultant and professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, with the goal of developing the FLF Strategy-on-a-Page (SOAP) to set direction for the organization’s path forward.

During the morning session, St. John invited participants to picture their “dream” foundation. In a collaborative exercise, attendees broke into small groups to help enhance the FLF’s vision, values and purpose. As Sarah Jones, FLF Philanthropy Officer, shared, “Strategic planning turns vision into direction, so that today’s decisions help shape tomorrow’s impact.”

During lunch, Tim Mallad, FL CEO, and Steve Ailey, FL CFO, provided overviews on the history and financial performance of the FLF. The afternoon session focused on establishing short- and long-term goals. By the end of the day, the group outlined priorities and next steps serving as a practical roadmap to guide and grow the FLF in the months ahead.
