FLF and Eluna Expand Family Grief Support

What began as a routine grant application has grown into an impactful partnership between the Forefront Living Foundation (FLF) and the Eluna Network (Eluna), a national nonprofit organization providing resources and programs for children and families impacted by grief or addiction. In 2022, FLF applied for funding from Eluna to support the Faith Presbyterian Hospice (FPH) Child and Family Bereavement Program. FLF’s ambitious goal was to secure funding to host a weekend-long family bereavement camp. Although Eluna traditionally funded children’s grief camps, the idea of a family model strongly resonated with them. Eluna approved the proposal, launching the first Camp Erin DFW family camp in partnership with FPH.

Camp Erin, founded by Eluna, is the largest national bereavement camp program for children and teens ages 6 to 17. These camps are offered at no cost and led by trained bereavement professionals and volunteers. When is began in 2022, twelve families gathered in East Texas for a weekend that combined traditional camp activities with intentional grief support. Campfires and zip lines were paired with group sharing and special ceremonies designed to honor lost loved ones. Because of the success of the FLF and FPH pilot camp, Eluna quickly expanded the family camp model nationwide.

In 2023, Eluna approved funding for Camp Erin DFW once again. A logistical move to Camp Buckner in Central Texas made it possible for more families to participate in the program. Teammates across Forefront Living entities also stepped forward to serve as volunteers, allowing them to witness firsthand the impact of donor generosity and the transformative power of compassionate care. Families left the camp experience knowing they were not alone.

Most recently, Eluna’s belief in the partnership was clear when they awarded FLF additional funds to provide a day camp in December of 2025, focused on holiday grief support. FPH hosted the Great Gingerbread Bash on the campus of the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center. The day was filled with festive activities that helped children and their loved ones navigate grief during the holidays.

Today, the relationship between FLF and Eluna remains strong with a shared purpose to make sure no child walks through grief alone and a promise of brighter days ahead.
