Independence and Care Through the Winter Storm at SJV Post date February 4, 2026 St. Joseph Village (SJV) is a place where connection, care and everyday moments come together to create a true sense of home. While independence is encouraged and celebrated, what truly defines life at SJV is the steady presence of teammates who are always ready to offer support, companionship and a little extra joy whenever it is needed. That spirit was on full display during DFW’s recent winter storm. As icy conditions made travel challenging, SJV residents felt reassured by the thoughtful preparation taking place throughout the community. Knowing they were safe, informed and cared for brought peace of mind during an otherwise uncertain time. Some of the activities that kept residents and teammates engaged during the storm included cardio drumming, crafts, games, word searches and crossword puzzles that sparked creativity, laughter and a little friendly competition. Chair exercises offered gentle movement for all ability levels, while moments of companionship created meaningful connection throughout the day. Adding to the fun, a good-natured snowball fight brought smiles, surprise and plenty of laughter. At SJV, thriving looks different for every individual. What remains constant is the commitment to meet residents where they are, celebrate their independence and surround them with care, kindness and community every step of the way. by Wendy Van Bemmel ← Older Posts
